Japanese Thank You Cards w/ Hiragana Arigato

Category:

Description

These pretty Japanese thank you cards feature a delicate sakura cherry blossom motif on the front with falling blossoms on the side and below the text in addition to the canopy of flowers above. They lend a subtle sense of balance, in harmony with the blank space, gently cradling the message of gratitude that’s the centerpiece of this card.

We’ve chosen rounded corners as the default shape as it enhances the soft essence of this design, but standard sharp corners also work well, so try both looks in editing mode and see which appeals to you!

The default size is 4.25″ x 5.5″ and you can order your cards with or without white envelopes. The cards are a horizontal flat card format and you can order just a single card if you’d like, or in quantity. Volume discounts apply for orders with a minimum of 25 cards.

The Japanese language text in hiragana characters reads as ‘arigatou’, which is the most often heard way to express thanks in Japan-a simple, familiar expression of appreciation. Sanae, half of our humble two-person design studio, was born and raised in Japan and she wrote these characters by hand with this card in mind and then scanned them for use here. This part of the design can’t be edited, as it’s an image. The characters are a delicate hue called light coral that has elements of soft red in it.

We’ve added English below this, with THANK YOU SO MUCH! in a simple, clean modern font, in a very soft red tint that is related to the one used above it for the hiragana arigatou message. You might decide to edit this English text with a message to suit your own style, and you can change the font, too. Or you might decide to simply delete the English text without replacing it if you prefer just the Japanese characters on the front side. With this possibility in mind, we designed the card with the petals on the lower half to add balance in either case.

We’ve set the background on the front as transparent so that the color of the paper will simply serve as the base tone. On the back, we’ve set a pale red tone as the background. This delicate hue is known as sakura iro (cherry blossom color) in Japan. You can change this to transparent to make the paper color the background or choose another color if you’d like, and you can of course change the background on the front as well.

On the back, we’ve added some placeholder text in a gray tone. You can change the text color if you prefer, and you might also choose to change the font.

You can enter a personal expression of thanks after deleting our placeholder text on the back, or you might prefer to delete our text and leave the back blank so that you can later write your message by hand. Similarly, if you do decide to enter your own message, you might choose to add your name as well, or enter just your message without your name so that you can sign your name by hand after you receive your card.

The default paper type, matte, has a soft warmth to it and resists smudging, so it’s a great choice for writing your own message. You can edit this and choose semi-gloss or another paper type instead. In any case, please remember to delete our placeholder text!
